Symptom Onset & Initial Evaluation

  • Coronary calcium scoring: Measures plaque buildup to assess future heart disease risk
  • Coronary CT angiography (CTA): Visualizes blockages or narrowing in the coronary arteries
  • Cardiac MRI: Evaluates cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, scarring, or valvular disease
  • Echocardiography: Assesses heart function, valves, and chamber size
  • Vascular ultrasound: Identifies blood flow abnormalities or clots

These tests provide detailed anatomical and functional information without invasive procedures.


Treatment Guidance & Management

Imaging results help providers determine next steps, including:

  • Need for medications such as statins, beta-blockers, or anticoagulants
  • Referral for angiography or stent placement
  • Evaluation for heart failure or structural repair
  • Lifestyle modifications to reduce cardiovascular risk
  • Surgical planning for valve or congenital heart disease

Radiologists work closely with cardiology and vascular surgery to ensure treatments align with imaging findings.


Ongoing Management & Monitoring
